Shaw Vineyard Estate was established in 1998 on "Olleyville" the historic 700 acre Murrumbateman fine wool producing property dating back to the mid 19th century. Located just off the Barton Highway in the northwest of the Canberra District wine region, Shaw Vineyard Estate is one of the largest privately owned vineyard holdings in the area.
In fact, the property with around 85 acres under vines including Riesling, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, provides Shaw wines with its entire production, and can lay claim to the enviable fact that they produce 100% Estate grown wines. In just a few short years, Shaw Vineyard Estate wines have already been recognised with 9 trophies and more than their fair share of medals from various Australian and International wine shows.
Producing a full range of top quality estate grown fruit has enabled Shaw Vineyard Estate to make an in-depth and exciting range of consistently superb wines, year after year.
Family quality is a key focus at Shaw Vineyard Estates and the company is a truly family affair headed by Graeme & Ann Shaw, and assisted by their two children who are both fully employed in the family business, Michael the Viticulturist and Tanya the Cellar Door Manager.
As well as creating great wines the Shaw family has made their picturesque property (only a 20 minute drive north of Canberra) a wonderful place for any family to visit. The facilities offers a relaxing escape with a touch of Italy in the heart of Murrumbateman; a stunning cellar door facility, with an exquisite ceramics gallery, and award winning restaurant ‘Cello Cuisine’, is where locals and visitors unite.
The Shaw family oversee everything at the busy Estate and bring as much dedication and passion to their wine business as they do to their other passion: supporting families less fortunate. In fact Shaw Vineyard Estate gives back a percentage of its earnings to various charities each year, particularly working with Camp Quality to raise funds and awareness of this great cause.
