The Climbing name refers to the high altitude vineyards from which the fruit is sourced — as well as highlighting the brands continual quest for achievement and higher goals.

With an estate vineyard which represents a considerable percentage of the total vineyard area in the region, Climbing (along with its Central Ranges stablemate, Rolling) is well positioned to trumpet the unique quality message of the exceptional wine producing region of Orange, New South Wales.

The Orange appellation is defined not just by latitude and longitude, but also by altitude. The region starts at 600 metres above sea level: one of the highest viticultural regions in Australia.

This high altitude has the benefits of a high intensity of sun (giving the fruit incredible colour and powerful flavour) and continual cool temperatures (creating a smooth elegance).

Young, talented senior winemaker Debbie Lauritz realises the potential of this mature 508 hectare estate vineyard and continues to drive the innovative and exciting wine styles that are clearly evident in the Climbing Wines and Rolling Wines ranges.

It won’t be long before the rest of the world catches on as recent distribution growth both at home and abroad by the energetic team behind Climbing Wines and Rolling Wines, has seen 26 countries now having easy access to these wines, making them the most widely available wines from Orange in the world.

Max Allen, The Weekend Australian
"...one of the most unusual and innovative labels to have appeared on an Australian wine in recent years, [Climbing] received a silver gong at the 2005 Wine and Spirit International Design Awards last month. The judges described Climbing as "a fun and clever label that fights convention". It also shows that you don't have to slap a kangaroo on a bottle to get noticed overseas".

ROLLING is named after the rolling hills of the beautiful 508 hectare estate vineyard in the region of Orange NSW which produces the fruit for these wines. The appellation, or Geographical Indicator (GI), given to these wines is Central Ranges, being created from the part of the vineyard that is below 600 metres in altitude.
